This Is the Day for Change
This Is the Day for Change
What are you waiting for to start this new phase of your life, this new health regiminen, this new project, this new time of taking care of yourself? You have been asking yourself this question everyday for the last year. You have been dragging your feet and not taking hold of your life. It's time to hold on tight, take the reigns of your power, and give it your all...
Every time a friend passes away, it seems life says to me in a very big way: WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR TIME, BO? YOU DON'T HAVE FOREVER....
And I get it. Especially when I go to a pre-funeral viewing, and see someone I love and who loved life and took every day seriously, lying there lifeless. The cold hard reality of ephemeral human existence couldn't speak louder in those moments.
Take one step forward.
Do what I do when I go to the gym. Tell yourself, just get to the building. You don't even have to do an exercise. Then once I get there, I tell myself, "OK, now that I'm here, one exercise wouldn't be too difficult. That's all you have to do." Once I'm on a machine--once I'm on the pathway--everything is downhill from there.
Getting on the pathway is the key. I like the metaphor... get into the car and put your foot on the gas pedal, but if you haven't started the car, it does you no good. You have to take the steps to move forward. Once you do so, the rest comes naturally.
Give yourself a little shove this week. Start the engine. Get some people to help get responsible for the decision you made. I guarantee if you tell a few people you are going to make a change, you'll feel more inclined to get it done. That's called ACCOUNTABILITY. And it works.
Our Prayer: "God, I've been thinking too long about change. I help everyone else in my life and neglect myself. It's time for me and I know it. I feel every part of my body and mind calling for change. Help me take that one step forward on the path to change. With your help, I know I can make a difference in my life and in others' lives as well. But if I'm not whole and complete, I can't expect to have the energy to complete my tasks and have energy to do for others as well."
