Habit or Crutch?
When you go to the doctor's office after hurting your leg, you often get crutches to help you take the weight off of your leg, so it will heal. Crutches are a good thing. Although, sometimes habits start with alluring treats that weren't the best thing for you, but got you through a hard time in your life.
I hear stories all the time from hypnosis clients: "I started smoking cigarettes when my father was dying in the hospital." "When work was so crazy, I survived on the junk food that was in the kitchen at work." "I know it wasn't the best thing for me, but after my divorce, I just felt like I had to get back out there and just have some physical contact."
Things that got you through, sometimes turn into habits that are hard to break--crutches. But if you can see that your life doesn't have to be driven by these crutches now, you can find the strength within you to make a powerful change. New Years inspires many people to create a space for a paradigm shift. This just may be the day to put away the crutches and learn to begin to walk on your own without these dysfunctions.
