Coffee in a Cardboard Cup
The Trouble with the World Today is Coffee in a Cardboard Cup
There is a song by this name I used to use to audition when I was an actor in New York. I don't think in 1984 the writer had any idea what a Starbucks was. Everywhere you go today, someone is either carrying a bottle of something or a cup of tea or coffee. When I was younger, we kind of expected the people we were visiting to have those things when we arrived. It was part of the give and take in society that made life quaint and interesting.
I still have this with a few friends. When I invite them over, we know that I'll be putting on the pot of tea and getting my basket of various teas out and the agave nectar to sweeten the pot. Then we'll sit together and chat. I love those homespun times sharing.
I'm all for getting what you want in the moment and available drive throughs, but let's try not to forget that life is made from communing with others and giving to one another. At the very least, if you're going somewhere today, order 2 cups of coffee in a cardboard cup and take one to a friend.
