Be Kind to the Little One

Satisfying the little ones.

There is a child (or two or three) in all of us who beckons us in ways that tilts us towards windmills and treats us to ice cream way too often. Mine has had a year long tug on my heart, unbeknownst to my conscious mind. Finally, light and I'm able to see clearly.

Children, like the ones we see around us are loud and mostly want what they want. They believe they can have the world, and most times go after it without relenting. The adult in us is more yielding to reality and security, safety and love. We tend toward the intangible (such as emotion), because we realize that what we wanted as children is an enigma, lost in the temporal wind.

So, say to your child within today, "How can I make you happy, without flirting with disaster?" If we eat a healthy meal, then we can have one delicious cookie after. Let's not go after the dude who reminds us of the father who never loved us, let's try for the man who is kind and gentle. I'd say by now, the adult in you has a lot more understanding of what you need than those stunted children within, who never got what they needed to grow and thrive.

Be kind to the little ones as they still need to grow up.
