Looking for the Good in All Things
I have a friend, well, a relative who simply can't see the good in anything. Everything that happens to her is God or the Universe punishing her for something she has done in the past. She sees no chance for good happening in the future, and therefore sets herself up for nothing great to happen.
Our minds are like gardens that have to be fertilized and tilled and planted with good. Think of the advice of Jesus. How many times did He talk about weeds taking over the garden and faith the size of a seed? This metaphor is spiritual and works.
Imagine everyday that your physical mind and body needs your help to stay healthy. You are like the overseer of your body. You can become the omniscient observer of yourself, if you take the time to be quiet and listen to the sea of thoughts swimmin through your mind. Just because you have a thought, doesn't mean you have to possess it and manifest it. My goodness. Can you imagine if you did everything you thought? You would be 500 lbs and be in jail, no doubt.
So, why not focus on the little things your mind tells you everyday that work against your self esteem? Look at the way you think negativity into your world and how it manifests in so many ways as if you have planted and watered it. Then rid your life of those negative thoughts.
What if--Just what if--every day, you took the time to tell yourself something positive. What if while you took a long morning walk in the woods looking at the beauty in the world, you thought about something you could give back to the world, instead of what you were not receiving? When you set your mind to compassion and giving, the world automatically gives back to you in so many loving and beautiful ways.
I have a friend who moved to town and wanted a job in recycling. So, she decided to get involved in the recycling program in Nashville. She actually ended up heading the yearly recycling gala. She got the mayor's attention. Then she was appointed the head of recycling in Nashville. Later, she moved with her husband to Oregon and took a job low on the totem poll in recycling, only later to get the job as head of recycling again, because she saw herself as someone who was a leader. This made her rise to the top of the food chain every time. And when the world didn't give her that acclaim, she took what she could or volunteered, until she was recognized. This is manifesting from a dream.
I sang a song yesterday at church that had a lyric in it that proclaimed loudly, "Don't be afraid to ask for new direction and journey on," by Ty Herndon. Let's all take a lesson from that song and begin to sew seeds of newness and stop listening to the old tapes of self destruction.
Dream on...
